Guest Blog: Fall Fashion According To The Stylish LittleLimeDress

We are beyond excited to present you with a fabulous guest blog post by the lovely Meaghan from LittleLimeDress.com. Just in time for fall, Meaghan has created four stylish looks consisting of this season’s key pieces, each look under $200. Scroll down because you’re in for a fall fashion treat!

When the fabulous La Purse team came and asked me to do a style piece for the La Purse blog, I was thrilled. I have been in a serious tweeting relationship with the LP team for a while now, and a post for their blog was just the thing to show I am committed ;) In all seriousness though, I was excited to do a post and immediately started browsing their site for which scarves I would pull. Then panic set in, how was I supposed to narrow down all these options? It took a while, but I narrowed down my choices to four fabulous pieces that are perfect for any fashionistas wardrobe. I often start building my look around accessories, and so the below picks were built from the scarf down. The looks are my personal vision and style, but the scarves were my inspiration. Here are four looks, built around La Purse scarves, all under $200!

 Look 1:

Colorblocking is not going anywhere for fall and winter, and what better way to work the trend than with a fun, playful scarf like this textured knot scarf with oval patterns in a fall inspired mustard color. I paired the scarf with a simple, more relaxed white blouse from Old Navy as a base for the mustard. The fun thing about this blouse is the round neck, long sleeves with button cuff and button tab to roll up the sleeve for a more casual look. I opted for this blouse instead of a classic button-down to give the look a more laid-back vibe. I then chose to color block the scarf with blue cropped slim fit trousers from Asos. I love the rolled cuff in the trouser, it makes the look playful and chic. Finally, keep your shoes (and handbag) neutral so not to take away from the look itself. I found these tan platform pumps for $35 from Payless; a great deal for stylish and versatile pump!

Mustard Textured Scarf, La Purse, $18

White Blouse, Old Navy, $30

Blue Slim Cropped Trousers, Asos, $37

Women’s Komet Platform Pump, Payless, $35

Total Cost of Look 1: $120

Look 2:

I started look two with the vibrant red striped lycra/viscose scarf. I had a hard time choosing the color for this scarf, but ultimately ended up with this red one. The colors reminded me of the leaves changing and the deep richness there is to the fall season. I paired the card with this chiffon maxi skirt from Forever 21. I love the idea of a chiffon maxi skirt. Ladylike, comfortable and versatile, the chiffon maxi is a great addition to a fall/winter wardrobe. It can be dressed up, or worn casual and while it may not seem like a simple base piece to build a look on, it is! At only $12.50, you can try out the look without breaking the bank. Wear the skirt with a classic turtleneck in a cream color. Not only will you get a million wears out of this Banana Republic turtleneck, but the color is a great base for all the other scarves in this post as well! I absolutely love the idea of mixing hard and soft, and so I chose to complete this look with a rugged ankle bootie from Piperlime. This is a great way to rock a rugged boot. Pair it with jeans, trousers, mini skirts & more.

Vibrant Red Stripped Lycra Viscose Scarf, La Purse, $18.45

Chiffon Maxi Skit, Forever21, $12.50

Essential Turtleneck, Banana Republic, $60

‘Velora’ by Blowfish Rugged Ankle Bootie, Piperlime, $69

Total Cost of Look 2: $160

Look 3, The Plus Size Look:

I always love to incorporate a plus size look into my styling, and while any of these looks can be translated to plus size, here is a specific look I designed around the La Purse double layer mixed purple print scarf. This scarf is so versatile, you can really wear it this  anything from from a white tee shirt and jeans to a wear to work dress, like this 2 in 1 pleated skirt dress from Asos. This dress is a great piece for the curvy girl’s closet, with a fitted bodice and high waistline it is a flattering silhouette and it isn’t bound to a specific season. Wear it through the fall and winter with boots, tights and blazers and bring it back into spring with bare legs and sandals. I thought the best way to “winterize” this look is with black opaque tights and these wedge ankle booties by Coconuts from Piperlime. If you don’t, for some strange reason, have a pair of black opaque tights you need to get them immediately. Seriously, please do not go another day without adding this simple basic hosiery choice into your wardrobe. The possibilities for your closet are endless when you have hosiery options. Throw a pair of tights under shorts, mini skirt, dresses for work- anything. Use your imagination, find inspiration and change your look for less than $20. Not feeling the wedge ankle bootie? Wear this look with pumps, flats or even boots- it is up to you, just be sure to be confident in whatever you decide! The best part of this outfit? You can rock this look to work and wear it right into the evening for drinks with friends!

Double Layer Purple Print Scarf, La Purse, $19

2 in 1 Pleated Skirt Dress, Asos, $59

‘Josie’ Ankle Booties by Coconuts, Piperlime, $79

Black Opaque Tights, Torrid, $15

Total Cost of Look 3: $172

Look 4:

Getting dressed for a night out on the town with friends is one of my favorite things to do. There are so many options, so many fun ways to express myself, and so many accessories! I am usually a statement piece kind of girl, whether it is a huge necklace, bold earrings, or a playful scarf worn the right way, I love adding that final wow piece to my look. The lightweight metallic silver dot scarf is def one of those pieces. For $19, it can change an entire look. I chose this scarf to pair with these skinny jeans I found on Piperlime by Levis Curve. I have blogged about Levis Curve before, while they don’t fit me as a plus size 18, they certainly fit a ton of my clients and they love them. If you haven’t had the time to try them, I recommend it. The utility button up tunic from Forever 21 seemed like a great going-out top to me; lightweight, slightly oversized in that sexy way, and affordable enough where if you ruin it- its ok. Finish the look with a knee high heeled riding boot for that fall fashion effortless style we all hope to achieve.

Lightweight metallic silver dot scarf, La Purse, $19

Levis Curve Skinny Jeans, Piperlime, $55

Utility Button up Tunic, Forever 21, $25

Divine’ by Very Volatile Boot, Piperlime, $79

Total Cost of Look 4: 178
