In Bridal Fashion, Bridesmaid Pashmina Shawls, Pashmina Shawls and Scarves, Women's Scarves on November 11, 2010 at 6:34 pm

For this post we’ve teamed up with the lovely ladies from Sydney’s Closet to present you with a selection of glam bridesmaid dresses and a short but useful list of shopping tips. Here’s all you need to keep in mind when shopping online for bridesmaid dresses and pashmina shawls:

♥ Make sure you opt for a bridesmaids dress that complements the bride’s wedding dress but also the wedding theme

♥ The style and color of the dress should flatter each bridesmaid’s figure and skin tone so choose carefully

♥ The ladies from Sydney’s Closet also advice you to “plan ahead” because bridesmaid dresses can take up to 12 weeks to special order

♥ Very important when shopping online: measure carefully before placing your order.

Now that we’ve established the rules of online shopping for bridesmaid dresses, here is a selection of some of our favorite bridesmaid dresses and elegant matching pashminas to pair them with.

Bridesmaid dresses that look and make you feel exceptional:

1. We love this beautiful chocolate satin bridesmaid dress! The cute flower detail belt makes it absolutely adorable, don’t you think?

2. The red hot mermaid bridesmaid dress is truly a stunner!

3. The “Lost in Paradise” bridesmaid dress deserves its name! This is the perfect bridesmaid dress for a summer wedding and we can’t get enough from looking at it!

4. Moving away from the floor length dresses, we present you with a flirty tea length dress with a cute bow detail.

5. You can never go wrong with black & white. Add lace to that combination and you have the perfect bridesmaid dress. This sweet baby doll dress in black/diamond white is one of our favorites! The empire waist makes it flattering for all body types and sizes.

All bridesmaid dresses are available at Sydney’s Closet in a multitude of  colors and sizes to choose from.

Bridesmaid Pashmina Shawls: For a plus of elegance, but also if you need a bit of coverage, pair your beautiful bridesmaid dress with a silky matching pashmina shawl. For an exceptionally elegant look, drape the shawl over the shoulders and let the ends hang.

All pashmina shawls, ruffle scarves and lightweight shawls are available at LaPurse.com in a multitude of vibrating colors.

Tell us about your bridesmaids: what were they wearing? And if you were a bridesmaid: what dress did you wear?

The ultimate luxurious accessory: Kashmiri Shawls

In 2010 Fashion Trends, Bridesmaid Pashmina Shawls, Pashmina Scarves, Pashmina Shawls and Scarves, Women's Scarves on November 3, 2010 at 11:06 pm

About a week ago, we decided to start a series of fashion posts by request, meaning that you, our lovely readers, are invited to suggest topics for our upcoming blog posts. The first one to make a suggestion was The Unreal Bride , fellow twitterer and glam fashionista. Her idea: to write a post about Indian Kashmiri Shawls.

The Indian Kashimiri Shawls trend has been continuously growing in the past years, with lots of stylish ways to wear them. What first started as an attempt to keep out the cold has quickly became more about the style and fashionable look the shawls create. After experimenting with numerous ways of wearing them, we’ve discovered that the shawls look good in absolutely every way: from simply thrown over the shoulder to a more sophisticated style, perfect for a business meeting.

What makes Kashmiri shawls so special: Made from the finest wool, pashmina and shahtoosh, the Kashimiri Shawls are the ultimate luxurious way of combining fashion and function. The Kashmiri Shawls are perfect for any occasion, classy or casual, and any event. Among the different types of shawls, Kashmiri shawls may also include the soft pashmina shawls. These are available in both simple dye: pleasant colors such as beige, ivory, or almond and eye-catching colors, and also with rich traditional embroidery and fabulous designs. Either way, they’re created to make you stand out from the crowd. Another reason ladies love pashminas: they are flattering for all body types and add the finishing touch to any outfit!

How to wear Kashmiri shawls: Kashmiri Shawls truly are statement pieces and every fashionista has at least one in her wardrobe. The style of wearing them can enhance your appearance in a heart beat, making you look stylish and ready to wow:

Elegant: Kashmiri Shawls look fabulous draped around the head. You can even create a turban out of a luxurious shawl. And we all know turbans are back this season.

To achieve the perfect evening look, opt for the stole style: gently wrap the shawl around your shoulders, allowing the ends to hang down from the under arm. Perfect for eveningwear and as a bridesmaids’ accessory.

Full Shawl Wrap: To achieve this look simply wrap the full shawl around the shoulders. For a more fashionable approach, make a knot in the front. The latest celebrity to fall in love with the trend: Julia Roberts. The actress couldn’t stop wearing colored shawls while touring in India.

Chic Casual: Take a shawl closer to the size of a scarf and simply wrap it around your neck.

Hollywood Style: Want to dress like a celebrity? Take two pashmina shawls of different colors, then intertwine and drape them around the neck. Or go for the simpler version and get a reversible two-toned pashmina.

Belt/ Sarong Style: The sarong style is perfect for those who want to accentuate the hips area. All you need to do is nicely wrap the shawl around your waist. Perfect for a day at the beach!

How do you wear you Kashmiri Shawls?  Let us know in the comments section.

P.S Don’t forget to add your topic suggestions for upcoming blog posts.

Jessica Alba’s Iconic Pashmina Looks

In 2010 Fashion Trends, Fashion Scarves, Get the Look, Pashmina Shawls and Scarves, Women's Scarves on October 19, 2010 at 4:33 pm

In our opinion, scarves, shawls and pashminas are the best way to dress up your fall wardrobe. To add that “X factor” to your outfits play with the variety of textures and colors available on the market. To wear a pashmina shawl or scarf, fold a long one in half and wrap it around your neck bringing the loose end through the loop of the folded end.

If you are a Jessica Alba fan then you know that the gorgeous actress loves dressing up her looks with versatile scarves and pashminas. In fact she rarely leaves the house without a pashmina around her neck. That’s why we thought we’d present you with some of Jessica Alba’s iconic pashmina look.

1. Purple all the way

We love the cute and casual layered look. If you’d like to replicate her cute outfit just pair a cute reversible white & lavender patterned shawl with skinny jeans, a comfy pair of high boots and a cashmere sweater in a matching purple color.

2. Blue, Café au Lait & Olive. If you want to look cute and casual at any time, try wearing a stylish pashmina.

To recreate Jessica’s looks, we suggest wrapping yourself in one of these 3 cashmere pashminas:

3. That much needed touch of color. We love Jessica Alba’s colorful pashminas and scarves and we’re sure you’ll love the following outfits too:

Try pairing a brightly colored scarf with a black or grey jacket, or look for a multi colored or flower patterned scarf if you are wearing head to toe neutrals to spice up your look. We suggest:

From left to right: Pashmina Shawl Bubblegum, Pashmina Shawl Maize, Silk Hand Painted Scarf Soft Tones, and Ruffle Scarf Light Blue , all available at lapurse.com

Now tell us, are you a fan of Jessica Alba’s pashmina looks? If yes, which one of the above outfits is your favorite?

In Fashion Scarves, Get the Look on October 14, 2010 at 1:30 pm

We often find ourselves admiring celebrity trends and their flawless looks and when we came across this picture of the lovely Kylie Minogue all we could say was: Perfection!

The petite singer is known not only for her singing and acting talents, but also for her beauty and flawless fashion sense. And this time’s no exception. That’s why we have selected one of her many chic street looks and decided to “recreate” it, but with affordable pieces so that we can all look as fashionable as Kylie!

Why this look in particular? Because it’s the perfect Fall outfit and can be worn both during day-time or as an evening look. We love how she kept things simple yet stylish and how she added a splash of color to her all-black ensemble with the super cute pink and blue scarf.

Here’s how to get the look for less, with fabulous pieces, each item less than $50!

1.Cropped Faux Leather Jacket, $39.80 from Forever21

2. Petite black ruffle sleeve top, around $20 from Debenhams

3. Black bandage skirt, around $31 from Debenhams

4. Multi Strap Peep Toe Heels, $49 from ARDEN B.

And now, in order to complete the look, we must add the “splash of color”: a reversible burgundy and turquoise scarf , $38.95 from La Purse and a very stylish Poppie Jones Agnes silver satchel ($44.95) from shopstyle.com

Fabulous Fall Trends to Wear to Work

In 2010 Fashion Trends, Fashion Scarves, Women's Scarves on October 11, 2010 at 5:27 pm

Fall 2010 Fashion is undoubtedly fabulous, but let’s face it: some of this season’s trends (over-the-knee high heeled boots, miniskirts, see-through fabrics, and head-to-toe denim-just to name a few) aren’t exactly office appropriate.

Since we love fashion and we know you love fashion, we decided to “translate” some of this autumn’s top trends into fabulous fall trends to wear to work. Here are our work appropriate outfits:

Military inspired fashion can be worn to the office. Here are some chic pieces which will make you the envy of your co-workers:

If you like the pieces here’s where you can find them: Military Contrast Trench Coat, $170.00 at TOPSHOP ; Khaki military chain cardigan,£32.00 at Debenhams ; Black military boot cut trousers, £22.00 at Debenhams and Military style lace up dressy shoe boots, £75.00 at Debenhams.

Of course, there’s nothing more work appropriate then tailored pieces. Invest in quality suits, blazers and sheath dresses. Here are some suggestions:

From left to right: Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique Ruched Faux Wrap Dress, $98.00 at Nordstrom ; Gros Grain Soft Jacket, $135.00 at TopShop ; Pleat Pocket Pencil Skirt, $55.00 at TopShop and Pleat Sleeve Jersey Jacket,$110.00 at TopShop

Very important: Office attire shouldn’t be all black, white and grey. You can have fun with fashion even when you go to work. So dare to opt for Jewel Tones when creating your work outfits. For example, wear a beautiful purple Crossover Belted Dress, $27.80 at Forever21, or spice up your office outfit with a pair of Red Pumps, fabulous accessories like a pair of sparkling studs, an emerald ring or a silk hand painted scarf, $18.95 at lapurse.com .

Now tell us, how do you incorporate Fall Trends into your work outfits?

Disney debuts princess-inspired wedding gowns

In Bridal Fashion on October 7, 2010 at 2:16 pm

Remember when you were a little girl and dreamed about being exactly like your favorite Disney princess? For all those of us who used to fantasize about feeling like a princess, Disney teamed up with wedding outfitter Alfred Angelo on a gorgeous collection of seven wedding gowns inspired by those worn by Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Aurora, Jasmine, Snow White and Tiana. Just so you can have a fairy tale wedding.

Each wedding gown tells the story of each princess. For example, Belle’s dress has a beautiful draped waistline and, as you can imagine, is inspired by the romantic ballroom scene from “Beauty and the Beast”. Cinderella’s dress is as sparkly as our heroine’s glass slipper. Jasmine’s dress features a more modern approach, and we think you’ll love the draped satin and bejeweled neckline.

Take a look at the beautiful wedding gowns featured in the video released by Disney and tell us: Would you marry your Prince Charming in a princess-inspired wedding gown? If yes, which one?

5 Bold Styles to Try for Fall

In 2010 Fashion Trends on September 29, 2010 at 6:59 pm

1. Color coordinate! And by color coordinate we mean match the shade of your lipstick with the color of your dress. This might sound tricky and we know that being too color coordinated can become a fashion faux pas, but here’s our tip: use only red or deep tones like plum on your lips.

Stay away from bubblegum pinks!

2. Wear a clutch…during day time! Clutches are not only for evening wear, you can easily wear them from nine-to-five. And look super chic! Just take Tamara Mellon’s, founder and chief creative officer at Jimmy Choo, advice: “It’s a fresh, modern alternative to an oversize bag.”  Sure, you have to avoid satin and all over sequins for day time. We love Kim Kardashian’s leopard print clutch!

3. Dare to rock a pair of cute socks with a skirt! This is one of the most popular trends on the runways and we must say it looks cute. Best way to wear this trend is by matching the socks to the color of your shoes – we suggest you start the easy way and wear black. You’ll notice that it will look like you’re wearing booties. You can opt for ankle or knee length.

4. Have fun with fabrics and prints by mismatching them! This fall you are allowed to pair florals with polka dots or animal print with stripes. Give this bold trend a try and mismatch your prints!

5. Wear denim…from head to toe! The trick to getting it right? According to Gap’s executive vice president of design, Patrick Robinson “mix fabric weights and washes”.

Now tell us, which of these 5 bold trends would you try for fall?
